video_dude asked recently about scanning outside the standard frequency range and trent replied that, while the device is capable, "we will not give it different specifications until we can ensure that the readings are accurate. We are currently working on this capability."

Will the capability be available via a software update?

Hi Andrew, you should try and go outside of the 2.4GHz band with the latest release of Chanalyzer 3.2.  File > Hardware Configuration.  Just check it out for me :)

Hi,

The limits for the DBx with Chanalyzer 3.2 are as follows:

2300 - 2600 MHz
4900 - 6000 MHz

Accuracy outside of the specified frequencies is not guaranteed.

The DBx has a specified operating range of:

2.4GHz: 2.400 - 2.495

5GHz: 5.150 - 5.850

(you can find specs for all Wi-Spy products here)

As Saty states, Chanlyzer allows operation over a broader frequency range, but accuracy outside of the specified operating range is not guaraneed.

Has anyone tried to operate

Has anyone tried to operate the DBx at below 2400 MHz?
Accuracy specs are published but anyone have a ballpark estimate? +/- 10 dBm is something... +/- 50 dBm is not.

I've run DBx down to 2300

I've run DBx down to 2300 MHz, that's about as low as it can get.  Amplitude accuracy remains fairly consistent at the lower frequencies.
