Defective Unit?

Hello,
I just received my Wi-Spy 2.4 this morning, and couldn't wait to try it out.
I first tried installing it on my Macbook Pro. I installed and ran EaKiu, and it was not able to detect the Wi-Spy. It just kept prompting me to plug in the Wi-Spy.
Thinking it may be a Mac issue, I tried installing Chanalyzer on a XP laptop. Clicking on the USB tab, shows nothing, just blank graphs. When I connected the Wi-Spy, there were no lights on the unit (does it have any?), nor could I find anything about the Wi-Spy listed in the device manager. It didn't even find new hardware when I first plugged it in.
Am I missing something?
Bob.
Ok, a bit of an update.
I ended up shaking the Wi-Spy to see if anything was loose or rattling inside the case. After that it seems to be working fine.

Ok, so there seems to be something wrong with my unit. I just unplugged it to try it again in my Mac and same problem - could not detect.
Tried it back in my pc and same thing - until I took it out, shook it and reinserted it.
Bob.
Bob,
Yeah... that doesn't sound very good :-( I have emailed you offline for more information including your shipping address.
