Porting to Linux / Unix

Do you have any plans to port this to a Non-Windows OS?

More fun with the GTK client, spectrograph mode added to match the windows version.

And the open-source wispy-tools now have their own page at:

enjoy, a full release forthcoming soon, for now, subversion.

mmiller: The userspace driver and curses grapher I linked to will work on Linux, etc.

The SVN repository now has a GTK grapher as well. There will be a full release of it at some point soon.

This is, obviously, independent of the metageek windows code, but designed to look similar.

Will you be thinking about porting this to Unix / Linux other than Mac
OSX past the next 6 months? like Q3 or Q4 of 2006? If not I might as
well buy your product and see if I can get it working with Mono http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page. I will also see how it works under kismet as well.

Thanks

For anyone interested, the open source tools are in Subversion at http://svn.kismetwireless.net/code/tools/wispy.

The LibUSB interface has been tested and works under OSX, as well.

Alright, I've implemented the WiSPY controls in a userspace LibUSB
application. This SHOULD work on Linux, OSX, and *BSD. I've only been
able to test it on Linux so far. I also implemented a simple curses
based grapher.

Screenshot:

Code:
http://kismetwireless.net/code/wispy-tools-1.0.tar.gz

The LibUSB core interface is all of about 90 lines of code, including searching for the device and error handling.

The code ought to handle both the current and the future vid/pid pairs for the device.

I'm going to work on a nicer, python/gtk based grapher as well.

I'm working on a libusb interface to the WiSPY currently, which in
theory ought to work on Linux, *BSD, and OSX (and windows, but theres
no reason not to use their native interface there).

Once thats going, some form of Kismet integration is in the works (I have some ideas for it already).

I'll post when it's working,

-m

We are working on a plan to port the Wi-Spy software application to OS
X, but there probably will not be a Linux version within the next 6
months.
