Problem using Wi Spy

I have just installed my Wi Spy device today to use for evaluating possible interference from cordless telephones, wireless lans and appliances in my area.
I get this reading with my wireless router turned off:
When hooking up my wireless router and configuring it to use channel 2, I get this reading which is somewhat identical to the first: (The marker is at the channel 2 range)
My wireless router can put out enough of a signal that a wireless client about 150 ft away can connect at a 22 mb rate. With this router sitting 5 feet away from the Wi Spy device I can't even see it on the readout. What could be the issue here?
Please disregard my previous post. I found out there were some issues with how I had my networking equipment set up. The unit is working fine now and I am very pleased with it.
