Wi-SPY Dbx - Is it worth the money?

Hi everybody,

This is my first post. I am in charge of manging my schools wireless network. I want to use wi-spy to help me troubleshoot and for wireless survey. Should I get Wi-SPY Dbx? Most of wireless devices are G but I"m thinking about the feature when we setup a wireless N network. I help would be appericated. Thanks.

I am totally biased because I work at Metageek. So I'll leave most of the answering up to the community.

I will say this, if you ever plan on moving to 802.11n or anything in the 5GHz band, you should definitely consider the Wi-Spy DBx. It is worth the money.

I agree with Trent, but I don't have a DBx, nor do I manage a wireless network like you do. But, If you do/will do anything with 802.11A or N, I would say go for the DBx.

802.11n is specified in the 2.4GHz band as well.
So you will need the Dbx only if you are going 802.11a and/or 802.11n@5Ghz

Personally, I'm running an 802.11n network at home which only uses 2.4Ghz. (unfortunately...)

I have it for a school system... Works great, however I am having problems with mine right now..... Can't get Channelyzer to find it !!
