Two Feature Requests

1.) The ability to label access points in Chanalyzer. For example, it would be very helpful to be able to create a table that correlates BSSID to hostname so known access points can be more easily identified.

2.) The ability to specify a default wireless network card in Chanalyzer. I have a laptop that I use for spectrum analysis where the default adapter always defaults to a VPN Virtual Adapter. Every time I start Chanalyzer, I have to click the "Stop" button, select to my wireless adapter, and click "Start" if I want to see any information in the Network Table. A .ini file or registry setting to define a default adapter in Chanalyzer would save a lot of frustration.

Does anybody from Metageek actually watch or participate in these forums?

I have not seen a single reply or comment from anybody at Metageek since this was posted three months ago.

The request to be able to add a hostname to the BSSID would save me a TON of time. I can't speak for everybody else, but every time I have to troubleshoot a wireless issue, I spend most of my time trying to determine which access points I am seeing. I have a separate spreadsheet with the hostname and BSSID of all my APs and I have to manually match then up to get a clear understanding of what I am seeing.

It would be EXTREMELY helpful if a column could be added to the Networks Table that would show the hostname of the device. If users had to manually enter the BSSIDs and hostnames in a table so that Chanalyzer would know the hostname, that would be fine.

Please let me know if this is possible because it is the single biggest frustration that I have with the capabilities of the software.

Yes, we do have a request for mac address aliasing, which I believe is the feature you would like in Chanalyzer Pro. It looks like filters from inSSIDer 2 are almost ready for Chanalyzer as well - I think that will help you too.

As far as Chanalyzer remembering the configuration of the Wi-Fi adapter, that seems pretty simple. I'll log it and see if we can get it updated in the next release.
