Strange broadband 2.4GHz noise - anyone
New to the forum, but I have been using WiSPY for several years. Does anyone recognise the following broadband noise? It seems to start and stop at several outdoor locations. I am thinking it might be bluetooth or possibly from a mobile phone. It was taken by one of my engineers and 70% of the plots he takes look like this, or similar.
Is this zoomed in on the frequency?
No that is the full 2.45GHz band.
I can see how this capture is a little misleading. The Y-Axis maxes out about -70dBm so the interference peaks at about -85dBm. Which is still very significant and will be pretty disruptive.
The source of this interference is coming from out of band, presumably the 2300-2400 band. download chanalyzer lab and have a look in that range. http://www.metageek.net/products/chanalyzer-lab/
You are probably right about it been out of band, just slightly lower. I am wondering what processor speed the laptop my engineer is using? It turns out to be 1.67GHz, so probably not the cause.
He might have been on the phone, possibly even using bluetooth at the time, but in the UK, it would be 1800 Mhz for GSM, 2100 for 3G but that is receive.
Unfortunately, he took the plot several weeks ago and isn't due to re-visit the site so I can't get him to re-scan using Lab.
