Looks like a few people here have a question on the max rate feature of inSSIDer.
My problem is that I'm using a laptop with a wireless N adapter and inSSIDer is reporting that the max rate for the Billion 7800N is only 54, yet the wireless details in the Networking and Sharing Center tell me that my laptop is connected at 150mbps.
I've configured the Billion for N use only using WPA2-PSK AES encryption and I've selected channel 11 on the 2.4GHz band (the 7800N doesn't do 5GHz band) as inSIDDer shows it is the best channel for me to use.
On another laptop the max rate is shown as 144mbps. On a file transfer test of a movie file from my NAS to the laptop, I was averaging t'fer speeds of ~8MB/s.
Also it should be noted that I chose to provide wireless on the 20MHz range only. The Billion gives the option to use both 20/40, but considering there is no channel bonding option I thought it useless to select both. Am I correct in doing so?
